Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

7:00AM Depart Liberal traveling north on Hwy 83 to Sublette, 34 miles.
7:35AM Arrive in Sublette (turn east at the stop sign at Hwy 83 and Hwy 56 intersection.) Breakfast at the Pheasant Inn, 600 W. LaLande Ave.
8:45AM Drive by the unique home built by student of Frank Lloyd Wright located on South Inman Street.
9:00AM Stop by the Public Library, 700 W. Chouteau, and ask to see rare movie memorabilia in the basement.
9:15AM Depart Sublette, head west 9 miles on Hwy 56 to Satanta. Go 4 miles south on Hwy 56 to the "longest bridge over a dry river" measuring 1,395 feet long.
9:45AM Backtrack to Satanta and head north on Hwy 190 to 160 junction, about 12 miles from Satanta. At Hwy 160, turn left heading west to Ulysses, about 14 miles.
10:20AM Arrive in Ulysses and the Historic Adobe Museum, 300 East Oklahoma (Hwy 160).
11:45AM Lunch at Chick-A-Dees Restaurant, 100 N. Main, and see their in-house craft store.
1:00PM Shop for Kansas products, gifts, collectors items and antiques at Gray and Rosel, Jeanious Art Studio, The Tiger Lily, Russ' Gift Center, Grant County Drug, Creative Creations, Kountry Klutter, or Rusty Windmill
3:30PM Depart Ulysses for a tour of the Santa Fe Trail area. Head south on Hwy 25 for 8 miles, then STRAIGHT south 3.5 miles on Wagon Bed Springs Road following the signs to the National Landmark that was an oasis for Santa Fe Trail travelers.

5:00PM Arrive at Fort Cedar View Inn, Hwy 160 and Rd. 1, north 3/4 mile, at sign turn east. Twenty acres of prairie landscape, indoor pool and four well-appointed bedrooms. Free breakfast!

Day 2

9:00AM Depart Ulysses traveling west on Hwy 160 to Johnson, 22 miles.
9:30AM Arrive at Parman Brothers, 106 S. Main, and visit the gallery featuring their famous handcrafted kaleidoscopes.
10:00AM Walk across the street to The Country Fare for a cup of coffee and homemade roll in a charming atmosphere.
10:30AM Arrive at the Stanton County Museum, 104 E. Highland, and visit their seven historic building complex.
11:45AM Depart for Elkhart, Hwy 27 south, 47 miles.
12:30PM Arrive in Elkhart for lunch at Jim-N-I's, 634 Hwy 56
1:30PM Time to walk off lunch on a stroll down Morton Street. Check out Country Clucks, Soda Sentral with its flower and leather shop, and 2 Girls and a Coffee Shop. Ask the locals for directions to Harris Gallery, 1105 Muncy. Wonderful blown glass and pottery studio. (Blown glass demonstrations available early spring, fall & winter.)

3:00PM Visit the Morton County Historical Museum, Hwy 56.
4:00PM Drive 8 miles west of town on State Line Rd and stand in 3 states, Oklahoma, Kansas & Colorado, at one time.
4:45PM Check into the Cimarron B & B, 3.5 miles west of Elkhart on Rd. A.

8:00AM Morning tour of the Cimarron National Grasslands. Driving tour brochure available at the museum and is suggested.

Following the tour:
If your route takes you home on Hwy 56 be sure and stop at Hugoton, 34 miles from Elkhart, at the Stevens County Gas and Historical Museum. Open Monday - Friday,1 - 5. Sat/Sun 2 - 4 and by appointment. (620)544-8751

VARIATION: After lunch in Elkhart at either the Downtown Restaurant or Jim-N-I's, visit the museum, shop downtown, the Harris Gallery and then have a late afternoon visit of the Cimarron National Grasslands before heading home.
