Day 1 | Day 2

8:00AM Depart Dodge City on Hwy. 50 heading east to Kinsley, 37 miles.
8:40AM Arrive at Jory's Pride, 310 E. 10th, or Strate's Country Kitchen, E. Hwy 50, for a great breakfast. Jory's features homemade bread. Loaves can also be purchased.
9:30AM After breakfast, head to J.C. Winter's Blown Glass Gallery. Call for an appointment to see hand blown glass originals. (620)659-2225
10:00AM Tour the Edwards County Historical Museum: Sod House & Church. Open Mon-Sat, 10-5; Sun 1:30-5pm, May-Sept.

11:00AM Carnival Heritage Museum & Gift Shop, 200 E. 6th - after your visit, stay for lunch in Kinsley at Pueblito Mexicano; located in the Carnival Heritage Center featuring authentic Mexican food; OR travel on to Greensburg.
12:15PM Depart for lunch in Greensburg, heading south on Hwy 183, 25 mi.
12:45PM - Late lunch at Main Street Café, 220 S. Main (If you ate in Kinsley go directly to Big Well.)
1:30PM Arrive at the World's Largest Hand Dug Well, 315 S. Sycamore - also on display, the world's largest pallasite meteorite found in Kiowa County.

3:00PM Quick stop at Hunter Drugstore, 121 S. Main, for a cool & creamy treat at their old-fashioned soda fountain.
3:15PM Depart for Wilmore on Hwy 183 heading south 18 miles, then east 7 miles on the county road. See the Stan Herd Mural on the grain elevator, across the road from the Wilmore Community Building, home of the Wilmore Opry. Arrange a remote and romantic stay at the Mule Creek Hide-a-Way or Wildwood B & B. Explore the tiny community, then depart for a 35 minute road trip east on Hwy 160 to experience the natural beauty of the Gypsum Hills Scenic Byway, returning to witness the spectacular sunsets of the region.

Day 2

9:00AM Arrive in Coldwater (5 miles south from Wilmore and 6 miles west on Hwy 160) for a hearty breakfast at the Timberwolf Café, 500 N. Central.
9:45AM View the Stan Herd Mural at the Comanche County Museum, 104 W. Main. 1 block east, visit the Comanche County Veterans Memorial located in Heritage Park, at the intersection of Main and New York. Children's playground located in the 400 block, West Maple.
10:45AM Shop for unique gifts at Main Street Pharmacy, 113 E. Main; Town and Country Floral, 136 E. Main; Ragtime Embroidery, 144 E. Main; One Dance Antiques, 109 N. Central; King's Boot Repair, 410 Central; and Karen's Korner, 117 S. Central.
Noon Depart Coldwater heading south on Hwy 160/183. 1 mile southwest of Coldwater take a scenic drive around Lake Coldwater; an opportunity for abundant wildlife and bird sightings!
($3 per vehicle)
12:45PM Depart for Protection heading south 4 miles on Hwy 160/183, then west 9 miles on Hwy 160.
1:00PM Arrive in Protection, birthplace of Stan Herd, internationally known muralist and crop artist. See murals at the Protection Mini-Park, 200 block of Broadway. Stop for lunch at the Farmhouse Bakery & Kitchen, 223 N. Broadway, or Don's Place, 230 N. Broadway.
2:00PM Visit the Stan Herd Gallery, Protection Library Building, 404 N. Broadway. Memorabilia from Stan's childhood to current works.
2:45PM Depart Protection heading west on Hwy 160, 16 miles, turn right at Sitka Hill heading north 26 miles on Hwy 34 for a scenic drive to Bucklin. 4 miles northwest of Bucklin turn on Hwy 400 heading northwest 20 miles back to Dodge City. Enjoy the afternoon and evening in the Cowboy Capital.
